Our staff consists of current or former members of Law Enforcement, U.S. Army Special Forces and other Security Professionals from various disciplines.
We have extensive real-world experience, qualifications, professional certifications and training in numerous areas of criminal investigations, homicide Investigations and workplace violence and security. These areas include crime prevention of all types, Crime Prevention (including Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) workplace violence prevention, active threat prevention, response and recovery, threat and vulnerability assessments and many others.
We offer several distinct security consulting services to our clientele. Professional services include comprehensive physical security planning, detailed threat, vulnerability and risk assessments, security system design, project coordination, staffing studies, employee and management training, policy development/review and emergency management planning.
All services are tailored to your specific needs.
Our approach to security planning is holistic - assessing threats, the client's vulnerabilities to those threats, and the application of appropriate countermeasures. We understand the synergy that must exist between client operations, emergency plans, coordination with outside agencies, security personnel, appropriate written policies, employee involvement, and technology enhancements, to enable the proper and comprehensive layering of security.
Our Founder and CEO, Thomas Carney, is a 42-year law enforcement veteran with court-qualified expertise in a variety of areas, including homicide/major crimes investigations, crime prevention, anti/counter terrorism, workplace violence prevention and active threat response.
Tom is a former Supervisor of the City of Miami Police Departments, Crime Scene Investigation Division and Capital Crimes Response Team. Throughout his extensive career, he has investigated multiple major crimes, including mass murders, many of which were related to workplace violence.
Tom retired from law enforcement in 2015 as the
Director of Police Services for the City of North Miami Beach, FL.
Upon his retirement from law enforcement, Tom changed his career focus to Corporate Security Management where in 2015 he took a position as a Senior Security Specialist with FedEx Corporate Security,
responsible for the South Florida Region.
From 2016 to 2023, Tom held a Senior Security Specialist position at UCOR, LLC in Oak Ridge TN. His responsibilities included developing and implementing physical security policies, procedures, and security plans for the U.S. Department of Energy, to ensure integrated protection of all classified matter and special nuclear material assets against threats. His duties also included providing project oversight, performing vulnerability assessments, ensuring protective force testing and performance, developing and implementing site-specific Security Condition (SECON) response plans and investigating thefts of government property.
Tom has advanced training by such entities as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Army Special Forces, ASIS International and many others.
He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s, Advanced Homicide Investigation Training School at the University of Louisville, the U.S. Navy’s, Naval Post Graduate’s School, Center for Homeland Defense and Security, Executive Leaders Program in Monterey CA and the Anti-Defamation League’s Advanced Training School on Counter Terrorism in Washington DC.
He is a former Adjunct Instructor at Florida Atlantic University, Institute of Government, where he taught a class on the Prevention of Workplace Violence. Tom was also a consultant for the National Crime Prevention Council on many topics including the Prevention of Workplace Violence.
Tom holds the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation by ASIS International, and is considered Board Certified in Security Management and is currently a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals and the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology.

As an expert in workplace violence prevention, Tom has gained a reputation for developing comprehensive programs on Workplace Violence Prevention for numerous corporate and government entities. His programs cover the full realm of this evolving trend, helping clients/employers to assess their vulnerabilities, implement readiness programs, establish crisis management teams, train employees and managers, address physical security issues and revise or add new policies to address this critical issue.
